The impediment to action advances action. What stands in the way becomes the way.
Marcus Aurelius
Stoicism is rooted in practicing virtue and managing your mind. Everything it teaches is control of the self, control of the mind, and with that you can control yourself and the situation.
With calm, steady reasoning – being non-reactive – you can manage any situation for the best outcome.
Obstacles will always happen. Weather, events, people – there are many ways a situation or plan will come to a fork in the path – or a bolder will be dropped right in front of you. If, no matter the circumstance, you focus and re-focus on what is good, what is salvageable, what could turn a misfortune into a win – that is the stoic way.
Make the obstacle part of the plan, it’s not an obstacle then.
